Diva challenge #179

Challenge 179 Notebook version
Diva Challenge #179

This weeks challenge is to tangle on a small tile. We were introduced to Bijou and his fun beginning. If you haven’t read the Diva’s page, you should check it out. I didn’t have any 2 inch tiles so I drew a little square in my purse sized sketchbook and started a tangle. Of course I ordered myself some Bijou tiles with my birthday money. How could I resist? And they fit in my purse!!! Here is the version I did on my little notebook paper.

After I received my Bijou tile in the mail (oh, happy day) I couldn’t wait to get started tangling. But alas, things don’t always go smoothly. So yesterday while sitting in the waiting room of a doctor’s office waiting for my son to be seen, I started. A friend of mine had shown me a site with some cool looking room dividers. One of them pretty much said, “Hollibaugh” to me so that was what I wanted to play with. Here is a screenshot of what I had seen.

Of course I had to put my own little twist on it. So while waiting for a follow-up doctor’s appointment for myself, here is what I finished. I still need to shade it and will update when I do, but for now here is my first Bijou tile.

I just had to take a shot of the cool sculptures (big rocks) in the lobby of my doctor’s office. Don’t they make you want to climb them and sit on top?

Diva challenge #178

This week’s Diva challenge is to do a DuoTangle using tangles that begin with the letters of you name. I have C and R. I chose Cruffle and Rixty. I was looking to have them sort of morf together. I think it worked out pretty well.

This was tangled on water color paper that I used shimmer spray on in a Fun With Paper class at the Photography center in Frazer, Pa. Thanks to Pat for the fun play time!

I can honestly say that I’m glad I did it yesterday. Today would have a bad tangle kind of day. I was working on a monotonous project of fixing author names in a database. You fell asleep a little reading that didn’t you? It’s ok to admit it. Really. I came home with Pink Floyd lyrics, “one day closer to death…” On repeat in my mind. So yeah, I’m so glad it’s over now. Well at least until tomorrow.

Now if my eye would just stop twitching…

Diva Challenge #175

This week the challenge was a  UMT Challenge (Use My Tangle). We were given Crux by Henrike Bratz. I of course, am a little behind in getting mine posted. I had fun doing this. I think the shading made a big difference to the way it turned out. I love this pattern and expect to be using it in a whole lot of places. I’m loving the challenges!

Joey’s Weekly Challenge #13

This circle challenge proved to be fun and a little intimidating. I had not created my own large circle to tangle in, before this challenge. I’ve done a couple of Zendalas and done other tangles within multiple circles but nothing like this.

The challenge was to only use ONE circle as an outline. All tangles had to stay within the circle. It really was great fun and I got to use the watercolor background that I made a few weeks ago.

Diva Challenge #172

This week’s challenge was Duotangle – Auraknot vs Mooka. I had never tried Auraknot but love Mooka. One of my Auraknots got very messed up, of course it was my first one. But overall I like the piece. I just have to ignore that one area. I REALLY love the colors I put together on the watercolor paper.

Kelly’s 30 day creative challenge – Day 18

Though I have been doing things creative, I was on vacation for a while and not following challenges. I had a blast watching my grandson learn to walk. We got to spend some time in Nashville with our daughter, her husband and their cute little guy. I enjoyed every minute of my time with them and had a difficult time leaving.

That brings me to my quick Day 18 challenge. I wanted to learn some tangles I hadn’t tried before. Today at lunch I used my tangle a day calendar, which I’m way behind in, to do the tangles Jingles by Connie Taylor and Zonked by Barbara Finwall. I didn’t do any shading but I had some fun with these.

Kelly’s 30 day creative challenge

Day 1
Created for my brother so that he remembers how great he is. What I didn’t mention, is that it is about the size of a business card. The paper is one that I “painted” during a “Paper Play” afternoon at The Photography Center. It was very fun to do. And though I’m not much of an “orange and yellow” kind of person, I have to admit that it turned out to be pretty cool!

Day 2

I’m sure that many of you have seen the movie Frozen. The song from it, “Let it Go” has become a regular around my house as well as in my car when something is getting on my nerves. So I decided to make a daily reminder for myself.

Day 3

This paper was painted with shaving cream by Randall, a Philly area CZT. It took me a while to build up the courage to tangle on such a beautiful piece of paper. It turned out very pretty and was fun to do. I think much of the color of the paint is highlighted with the different patterns.

Diva Challenge #169

This challenge was using circle strings. I thought it would be fun to use circles within circles. I really like how this turned out. I have really been enjoying doing the Diva challenges. If you do Zentangle and you haven’t tried one of the challenges, I urge you to give it a shot. You can find them on her blog I am the diva.

Diva Challenge #168

I’m a little late to the party on this one. But I did have some fun with it.

I did this challenge on watercolor paper.  I used my Tombow markers and water to create an ombre look. I thought it was fitting for a pattern called “Rain” and it was fun to do. My finished version has highlights with a soapstone pencil. I’ll have to take a picture of it (when I can get to it) and add it below this one.
